- Processor (CPU) (x1) : Intel 2.2GHz Dual Core, It should overclock pretty well if needed. - $79.99
- Memory (RAM) (x1) : 2 GB of RAM, The cheapest one since RAM is RAM. - $36.99
- Hard Drive (x1) : 160 GB Hard Drive, Western Digital since I\’ve had good experiances with them - $44.99
- Optical Drive (x1) : A cheap drive, I like it because it promises that \”you get working copies, not coasters\” - $23.99
- Motherboard : A cheap micro atx motherboard, good ratings. - $59.99
- Case : A nice looking black case with good reviews. - $49.99
- Power Supply : Good power supply, though it may seem like overkill. If you get a new video card or more components its better to have it instead of buying a new one or risking a cheap one dying. - $40.99
- Total Price for this build : $336.93
My comments about my computer:
This is my second contest build, and its very different from the previous one.
The motherboard is a micro atx because its cheaper and honestly for a build like this its fine. The cd drive is pretty cheap too, its main use is installing an OS which it is perfect for.
Most of the things in this build are low end, cheap. I wanted to keep prices down while still having a decent computer. One thing I did not cheap out on is the power supply, as I feel that it is the one thing that can destroy another component and should be of high quality(this particular one is the highest rated one on NewEgg.).
The hard drive isn\’t too large, but one could easily get a bigger one if needed.
By keeping the components so cheap, one can buy a monitor or a better graphics card without worrying about going over a $500 budget. I didn\’t add either one to the build because its up to who\’s buying it.
So there you have it, El Cheapo.
